Certified Information Systems Security Professional
FS3 is proud to announce that its CEO Federico Sevilla III is now a Certified Information Systems Security Professional.

The CISSP was the first credential in the field of information security, accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) to International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Standard 17024:2003. CISSP certification is not only an objective measure of excellence, but a globally recognized standard of achievement.
The CISSP certificate is held by information security professionals who develop policies, standards, and procedures as well as manage the implementation across the enterprise. A major point that sets the CISSP apart from other security certifications is the breadth of knowledge and the experience necessary to pass the exam. A CISSP candidate can not specialize in just one domain; they must know and understand the full spectrum of the (ISC)2 CISSP CBK to become certified.
Descriptions lifted from the (ISC)2 website and CISSP brochure.

DomainKeys Identified Mail
As part of our continuing efforts in improving our hosting services, we have implemented DomainKeys Identified Mail.
This has been activated for the fs3.ph and leathercollection.ph domains, which now serve as pilot users for our managed corporate email. This has also been activated for the lists.free.net.ph domain, which serves as a pilot for the public mailing list sector.
We will eventually cascade this to all the other email domains we host, and hope this will help reduce instances of mail spoofing domains we host, as well as delays in sending email to large providers like Yahoo! Mail.

Ubuntu 9.04 in an OpenVZ VE - Respawning Getty Process
Upgrading an OpenVZ VE to Ubuntu 9.04 introduces the system-services package. This runs getty services through the configuration files /etc/event.d/tty[1-6]. The six getty processes are continuously be respawned. This isn’t a major issue, but adds significant noise to /var/log/syslog. Purging the system-services package fixes the issue, and does not introduce any negative side-effects.
